Cockatoo Gallery

Highlights History

Helen first opened Cockatoo Gallery in 1988 at her and her husbands industrial estate near the port in Broome WA. The gallery which would be open to the public, started as a tiny transportable building, and then grew into a huge operating gallery, framing and printing factory and administration centre for her business.  Later she opened the first true retail outlet in Chinatown Broome.  This continued for many years.  There was a Cockatoo Gallery opened by another operator in Perth also.  Cockatoo Gallery opened in Eumundi and Montville QLD. In 2005 Cockatoo Gallery opened in Fremantle, and later South Fremantle as Norton Gallery. The last pit stop was Kalamunda for 2 years closing in 2016.  Here are a few shots of its early days.
